La Plata
La Plata Peak was one of my favorite 14ers that we have done thus far. We took the Northwest ridge to the top and rode the North Face into the La Plata Basin and then hugged the tree line back into the gulch. My overall impression of this approach was how straight forward it was. If you are looking for a realtivly easy apporach with an impressive decent look no further than La Plata peak. Round Trip data is about 8 miles with a elevation gain of 4,176’.

Our approach in Blue along the northwest ridge and our decent on the north face into the basin in red. From here we traversed back to the trail in La Plata gulch.

Here comes the sun over the east side, while we make our way up to the Northwest ridge, from La Plata gulch. We ended up walking the whole way beacuse the snow was so frozen.

La Plata was Bowies 7th 14er. He was kinda struglling in deep corn slush powder on the way down.

Laura with a selfie with La Plata's summit and North face.

Nicky on the Northwest Ridge. Notice the Elk Mountain Range in the background.

Nicky loving it on the Northwest ridge. Expect wind here, but if your lucky you'll have some breaks.

Not too step, just steep enough! Lots of fun lines on this North face.

Last push to the summit. Looks like the spring hikers are out in full force, as well as our beloved backcountry riders.

Love spring shredding in awesome corn snow!

We weren't the only party who had had some fun on La Plata during the nice spring weather.
