Mt. Shavano

My great aunt, Gudy Gaskill, was the "godmother" of the Colorado trail, and this was the first time I had ever been on it. It felt really special.

After about 3 miles of trail I am hot AF coming up onto the snow.

The first sight of the saddle where we will head north to the summit.

Sometimes, it feels like the walking is endless, so I have to remind myself, just keep walking.

As soon I was out of the protection of the trees i put some more sun screen on and a shirt. Be careful when dealing with the sun rays at high elevation, they are no joke.

Getting closer to the saddle, but the summit somehow looks further away.

all together it took us about 6 hours to get to the top. Nicky looks more tired than happy right now.

You can see the Sange De Cristo Range behind me to the south.

Shredding down the east face of the Angle on Shavano.

nicky laying in some nice tele turns in the great slush condtions.

A well deserved beer after over 13 miles of hiking.

Bowie actually was forced to sit this one out in the camper due to paw damage. Here he is tasting freedom from the truck for the first time all day.
